Our Park

In 1994, the Aromas Community Center Foundation (ACCF) was created for the purpose of developing a community park in Aromas, California, a small town located in the Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz Tri-County areas.  ACCF acquired 17.5 acres of land for the park with the generous assistance of Graniterock and additional funding through grants. Union Pacific subsequently generously donated an adjoining parcel. The resulting 18.5 acre property located in unincorporated North Monterey County is owned and operated by ACCF, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization is managed entirely through volunteerism and fundraising efforts.

Over the years, with the effort of the ACCF, local supporters of the park, development grants from the Harden Foundation, the Community Foundation of Monterey County, and the Monterey County Redevelopment Agency, there have been several significant improvements made to the property over the years.

These include the construction of restrooms and septic system, parking lot, storage building, perimeter fencing, irrigation infrastructure, approved building and use permits.   In all, expenditures and in kind donations with a combined value well over $1 million dollars in the park have been made.

The original plan for the park envisioned sports fields for youth sports and a local community center, thus the Aromas Community Center Foundation. While sports fields are still a major focus, ACCF wants to include other recreational and sport uses, like the current Disc Golf course. The Park and the Aromas Youth Soccer put in a full size Mutlipurpose FielD, now the proud home of the Aromas youth soccer. in 2018, the park added a walking trail, and Dog Park with seperate sections for big and little dogs. The big project underway is the Construction of Pavilion, a space for the community to gather for special occasions like Family Reunions, graduations, QuinceaÑera, Etc.

in 2022 at Aromas Day and Harvest Fair, we asked the public what should be next at the park and Many from the community have shared some great ideas about other activities at the park, like a pumpkin patch, installing exercising stations, a community garden, and accessible playground. As far as parks go, this one is unique. Its an opportunity for small connected local communities to create and build their very own park! It’s also been a uniquely giant challenge. So much good work has been done and and much more is needed. We need your help to make this park happen.
